NOTE: As of Dec 6, 2025, the Scout Shop Trading Post Location is closed but will reopen at its permanent location at the Heard Scout Pueblo on Jan. 5, 2026. We aren't sure when the local shop will reopen, stand by for ordering information. We'll likely need to collect a bulk order to avoid steep shipping charges.

More Pinewood Derby supplies from Grand Canyon Scout Shop

• Car must be built during the current Pinewood Derby season (the current school year).

• Wheel bearings, washers and bushings are prohibited.

• The car shall not ride on springs.

• All four wheels must touch the track.

• Only official Cub Scout Grand Prix Pinewood Derby wheels and axles are permitted. (Except in non-scout outlaw division)

• Car chassis must be made of pinewood. (No metal or plastic)

• Only dry lubricant is permitted.

• Details, such as steering wheel and driver are permissible as long as these details do not exceed the maximum length, width and weight specifications.

• The care must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.

• The front of the car must not protrude beyond the starting pin.

• Car must have been crafted by the scout and their family/friends. Cars may not be purchased already completed (Pre-cut is allowed, just not completely finished).

• Each car must pass inspection, the owner will be informed of the reason for failure, and will be given time within the official weigh-in time period to make adjustments.

• After final approval, cars will not be reinspected unless the car is damaged in handling or in a race.
